Metro Station Baumanskaya

The metro station Baumanskaya is named in honour of revolutionary Nikolay Ernestovich Bauman who has been killed in the street German which just in honour of it and named Baumanskaya. In honour of it the Moscow State Technical University (earlier - Imperial Moscow Technical School) has been named. MGTU of a name of Bauman by right is considered the best technical college of the country. The university is one of the oldest in Russia, and has been based in far 1830. Opposite to MGTU, along the river Jauza, the ancient Lefortovsky park (earlier - Golovinsky a garden) is located. The park is constructed in 1703 and it is considered the first regular park of Russia. The Lefortovsky park adjoins to the Ekaterina's palace, and all area in which the park - Lefortovo is located is named in honour of count Lefort, as well as. Vicinities of the metro Baumanskaya were called earlier as the German large village as in old Moscow here there lived basically foreigners. About the underground the trading complex "Elohovsky passage", united with the Moscow Children's Variety theatre has been constructed. The complex includes covered gallery of a unique design through which it is possible to leave directly the metro to the Bogojavlensky cathedral in Elohov with christened Vasily Blazhennyi's temple.
